At most arenas, the drive-in leaves room for a wrong turn or two. This one does not. It sits on the old Belmont Park grounds in Elmont, and the parkways around it push almost everyone onto the same road, the Cross Island, and the whole night can hinge on a single detail: which exit you take. Time it well and you are inside before warmups end. Time it badly on a packed Islanders night, and you sit in a line that couldn’t care less that you have tickets.

Where the Parkway Turns to a Parking Lot
If you have made this drive before, the rhythm is familiar, and it never really lets up. About ninety minutes before the horn, the Cross Island slows to a crawl, and Hempstead Turnpike backs up a good two miles between the ramp and the arena. Then the game ends or the encore fades, everyone reaches for their keys at once, and that same wall of brake lights costs you another forty-five minutes just getting out.
The parking has its own catch. Each lot sits off a different exit, so Emerald is 26D, the Belmont Park Garage is 26A, and the Diamond, Ruby, and Silver lots are 26B, and picking the wrong one leaves you no clean way to fix it. Park in that garage without a pass bought ahead, and a flat 125 dollars comes due as you exit. Your chauffeur already knows the right exit for the night, so none of it lands on you.
We just sidestep all of it. Before you enter, we confirm the post-event meeting point so you know where to reconnect when the crowd leaves. UBS currently routes general pickup through its designated north-side/Emerald-area access rather than allowing vehicles to wait wherever guests exit. Straight From the Gate to the Gates
Say you and three friends have had this Islanders weekend booked for months and you land at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on a Friday afternoon. It sits barely ten miles south, so a vehicle meets you at arrivals. Outside heavier traffic, the road distance is under ten miles, but Queens traffic and arena access can extend the drive substantially.
If you come into LaGuardia Airport (LGA) instead, it is also roughly eleven road miles away, but the drive can lengthen quickly depending on Grand Central Parkway and Queens traffic. We take care of the airport transfer, so you won’t be standing there juggling bags and squinting at a rail map.
The Backseat Sets the Mood
Once we hear how large the group is and what the evening has in store, picking the right vehicle from our fleet is easy:
- For two of you slipping out for a game, or marking an anniversary with a show you have talked about for weeks, our Cadillac XTS keeps it easy and quiet: a full-size sedan with seats for three and space for three bags when the evening opens at the airport.
- When it is the family making the trip, four or five of you with coats and a cooler before a playoff push, our Chevrolet Suburban gives that group and its bags plenty of elbow room on the trip.
Groups of up to 12 in our Mercedes Sprinter come in a different way. The Cross Island is cars only, so larger vehicles use Gate 5 Road off Hempstead Turnpike and set down at the Silver C lot, a separate approach most people never learn exists. Parking is pre-booked, which we sort out as part of the reservation.
The Night Doesn’t End at the Buzzer
The same wave of construction that raised the arena dropped a whole district beside it, which is why so many people make a night of it rather than just a game. A short walk away, the open-air outlet row of Belmont Park Village rewards getting there early, and we know the tables in Elmont and Floral Park that give a full night out at the arena somewhere to land afterward.
We roll the dinner, the arrival, and the ride home into one booking. The ramp guesswork and the packed lots never touch your evening at all. Islanders game, a name on tour, or a St. John’s tip-off, one vehicle covers the door-to-door either side of it. Gates usually open an hour before a game and often sooner when a concert is on the bill, and a little homework on the arena goes a long way.
